# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It takes less time than ordering takeout and tastes infinitely better.
  • Fresh basil transforms an ordinary grilled cheese into something you would order at a cafe.
  • The mozzarella melts beautifully without becoming greasy or rubbery.
  • You can make it with what you already have and still feel like you treated yourself.
02 -
  • If your tomato is very juicy, pat the slices dry with a paper towel so the bread does not get soggy.
  • Medium heat is non-negotiable, I learned this after burning three sandwiches in a row trying to rush the process.
  • Softened butter spreads without tearing the bread, cold butter will rip your slices and leave bald spots that will not brown.
03 -
  • Press down gently with your spatula while cooking to help the layers meld together and the cheese reach every corner.
  • If you want extra crispness, add a tiny bit more butter to the pan halfway through cooking each side.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice so you do not squish the sandwich and push all the melted cheese out the sides.
